A man named Raju Vallabh entered Muchia Chandramohan High School in Malda during school hours and held students hostage with a firearm.
He also placed acid bottles and bombs on a table, causing chaos in the school. The police and Superintendent of Police arrived at the scene and captured the gunman in a commando-style operation.
The arrested person claims that his family was taken away by Trinamool Congress members, and he entered the school to bring them back.
The police are verifying his statement and believe he may have become mentally unbalanced due to family problems.
